I took the background photos during a trip to Iceland in June 2005. For the most part, they're unretouched -- Iceland really is that beautiful. Later, a friend, Julie Cornett, danced against a blue chroma key backdrop on my back porch. The dancing was completely improvised, inspired by a varied collection of CDs Julie had brought along. I captured her movement on a DV camcorder and combined bits and pieces of it with the Iceland images in Final Cut Express. The music, despite its 18th-century style, is my own. I composed it for a trio of violin, viola and cello, but in the absence of a live string ensemble, I had to settle for synthesized MIDI instruments.
