Since they began performing together in 2005, Amélie Fortin and Marie-Christine Poirier have become known as one of the premier duos of their generation. Audiences throughout Canada and abroad have been introduced to the art of four-hand piano through the exceptional unity, sensitivity, and liveliness of their performances.

For their third appearance on Rose Avenue, they’re bringing a new program called “Nuit Blanche” (“Sleepless Night”), which explores every facet of what night represents — doubt, anguish, passion, celebration, love, and dreams — through works written specifically for four-hand piano by classical and contemporary composers. Adding an extra dimension to the experience, our newly introduced overhead camera will give you a bird’s-eye view of the intricate choreography of their hands on the keyboard.

“Marie-Christine and Amélie created an intimate and warm atmosphere with their commentary on the pieces, which were quite varied in style and texture. Having played together for fourteen years, they showed an extraordinary powerful partnership.… An excellent and varied program, brilliantly played.”

—James Leonard, Vernon (B.C.) Morning Star

“It was fascinating to watch the pianists moving in unison while gliding their fingers over the keyboard. Enchanting.”

Le Quotidien, Saguenay, Quebec

“I just listened to your performance of my composition GAZEBO DANCES and I loved it. Your attention to detail and your musicality are perfectly in unison with my intentions. Thank you for playing my composition and interpreting it so beautifully.”

—John Corigliano, Composer
